Massage therapy

Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health.

Massage therapy is one of the most undervalued health treatments. Massage results in better circulation, quicker healing, and less stress. Not to mention it feels great!

Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved; and physical dysfunction and pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of Massage Therapy.  Generally a therapeutic massage will involve the movement of the skin, fascia, muscles, and tendons in order to promote a relaxed sensation and healing effects in specific areas or systems.

Massage has been used throughout history to relieve pain and promote healthful relaxation. This is because therapeutic massage causes your brain to release the “feel good” chemical endorphins which have a “morphine-like” quality, that often helps to relieve pain, anxiety and stress that you may be experiencing. Specialized massage techniques to stimulate blood and lymphatic fluid circulation can further help to heal and restore areas of the body and remove toxic wastes that have accumulated.

During a consultation with one of our experienced massage therapists they will assess your medical condition and needs. The movement or pressure that your clinical massage therapist will use depends on your comfort level and the issue that is being resolved.
